Donald Dean Terry, 65, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 6, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Dec. 11, 1932, at Wolf Lake, Ill., son of Otis E. and Hazel Rumfelt Terry. He and Emma Jean Dewrock were married July 23, 1955, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 28, 1994...

Donald Dean Terry, 65, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 6, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 11, 1932, at Wolf Lake, Ill., son of Otis E. and Hazel Rumfelt Terry. He and Emma Jean Dewrock were married July 23, 1955, in Cape Girardeau. She died Aug. 28, 1994.

Terry had been a riverboat captain since 1961. He worked for Mechling Barge Line, which later became Artco, retiring in 1996.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Berry and Joe Don Terry of Cape Girardeau, Ronald Terry of Randles; five daughters, Virginia Woods of Chaffee, Tammy Parmer, Jeana Terry and Deana Livingston of Cape Girardeau, and Susan Randol of Thebes, Ill..

Also surviving is a brother, Charles Terry of Jackson; four sisters, Betty Piper of Akron, Colo., Barbara Mason and Earlene Moore of Cape Girardeau, Martha Heider of Carterville, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Jeffrey Sippy officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
