Donald Edgar Stehr, 64, of Dallas, Texas, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 17, 1998, at his lake home in Crockett, Texas.
He was born March 28, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, son of Edgar R. and Lillian Schwab Stehr. He and Carolyn Sander were married in August 1958, in Jackson.
Stehr was a 1952 graduate of Central High School and participated in band and a cappella choir. He was a 1956 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and member of the Benton Society, and received a master's in business administration from the University of Texas in 1959.
He was employed by IBM 41 years, retiring in 1990. He held many positions from salesman to senior trainer, and also developed an underwater process to explore oil. He was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Dallas.
Stehr had lived in Shreveport, La., Dallas and Houston, Texas. He served two years in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark Stehr of Dallas, Paul Stehr of Houston; a daughter, Lori Arden of Lakeway, Texas; his mother of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Paul Stehr of Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Miles White officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
