CYPRESS, Ill. -- Funeral for Donald L. Steele of St. Charles died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. He was born May 23, 1927, in Cypress, son of Ernest and Gladys Hartline Steele. He married Dorothy Goins. Steele worked at St. Charles Kitchens Inc. 15 years; worked for the city of St. Charles 22 years; and with the St. Charles Fire Department, retiring in 1989...
CYPRESS, Ill. -- Funeral for Donald L. Steele of St. Charles died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva.
He was born May 23, 1927, in Cypress, son of Ernest and Gladys Hartline Steele. He married Dorothy Goins.
Steele worked at St. Charles Kitchens Inc. 15 years; worked for the city of St. Charles 22 years; and with the St. Charles Fire Department, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of St. Charles VFW Post. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Phyllis Russell of Oswego; a son, Dennis Steele of Oswego; a brother, Paul Steele of Elgin; two sisters, Vi of Brewington, Ark., Elsie of West Frankfort; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak after 11 a.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dennis Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Luther's Chapel Cemetery in Cypress, with military rites conducted by the VFW Post in Vienna.
