SIKESTON -- Donald R. Beggs, 58, of Sikeston died Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at his home.
He was born March 13, 1938, at Oran, son of W.A. and Virginia Lee Dunn Beggs.
He married Margaret Lou Goehri Beggs on July 15, 1961. She died July 31, 1976.
He then married Judy Smith on Sept. 11, 1981, at Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife, his mother, a son, Donald R. Beggs II of Sikeston; a daughter, Jennifer L. Beggs of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Vicki J. Weaver of Cordova, Tenn.; a brother, Gary D. Beggs of Benton; a sister, Gail Cooper of rural Sikeston; and three grandchildren.
He was a farmer. He owned and operated Beggs Melon Co.
He graduated from Blodgett High School in 1956. He was a 32nd-Degree Mason and a member of the Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310 AF & AM.
He was a member of the SEMO Shrine Club of Sikeston and the Moolah Temple in St. Louis. He was a member of the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce and served on its farm-agribusiness committee.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston and served as a church usher.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel at Sikeston. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:30 in the chapel.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Guffie will officiate, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
