MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Donald Dean Nelson, 87, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Madison County, Idaho, son of Anthon and Cornelia Harriman Nelson. He and Iva E. Cook were united in marriage May 10, 1962. She died March 24, 2005.
Mr. Nelson was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Robert Wayne "Bobby" Nelson of St. Louis; a sister, Shirley Oliver of the state of Washington; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery.
