Donald L. Moneyhun, 78, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at his home. He was born May 28, 1936, in Hilderbrand, Missouri, son of Larkin Lee and Bernice Evelyn Cadle Moneyhun. Donald L. Moneyhun, 78, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at his home.

He was born May 28, 1936, in Hilderbrand, Missouri, son of Larkin Lee and Bernice Evelyn Cadle Moneyhun.

Don was baptized June 28, 1936, at Sargents Chapel Lutheran Church near Sedgewickville, Missouri, and was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He was a 1955 graduate of Oak Ridge High School.

On Feb. 11, 1959, he was inducted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged Feb. 10, 1961. He worked for Georgia Pacific in Cape Girardeau from 1974 until retirement in 1999. Don enjoyed playing the lottery, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them to play cards and the guitar. He was especially fond of his "li'ldog Beau."

Loving survivors include a son, Alan (Becky) Moneyhun of Jackson; five grandchildren, Kara, Kale, and Kody Moneyhun, Jessica Birk of Jackson and Jared Keith Moneyhun of Temecula, California; two great-grandchildren, Abby and Amelia; a brother, John (Rose) Moneyhun of Whitewater, Missouri; brother-in-law, Jesse Eaker of Cape Girardeau; his former wife, Ruth Moneyhun of Jackson; and a longtime friend, Marlene Williams of Perryville, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Juel Moneyhun; a brother, Jim Moneyhun; and a sister, Marjorie Eaker.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ted Torreson officiating.

Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
