Donald Mack Robert McQuay Sr., 76, of Friedheim died Monday, June 16, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 13, 1931, in Kirkwood, Mo., son of Estel Gideon "Mack" and Ada Gossage McQuay. He and Margaret Ann Martin were married Aug. 9, 1972, at Kewanee, Mo.
McQuay had been an electrician with IBEW Local 1 in St. Louis.
He was a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army and was one of the first in the landing at Inchon, South Korea.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Don McQuay Jr. of Jackson; a daughter, Pamela McQuay of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Martin Ward of Bloomfield, Mo.; two sisters, Virginia Doll of Fayette, Mo., Marjorie Mergelkamp of Ballwin, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Mo. The Rev. Jim Hylton will officiate. Full military honors will be provided.
Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
