Donald McGill

Donald L. McGill, 70, of Jackson died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 26, 1938, in Blodgett, Mo., to Liege and Leona Belle Woods McGill.

He was married to Carolyn Sue Cronenbold on Dec. 28, 1957, in Cape Girardeau.

In his teens McGill worked at the former Model Grocery Store in Cape Girardeau where he was a delivery and stock person. He later worked for International Shoe Co. In addition, McGill worked for Atlas Plastics and General Sign. He ran Admiral Plastics, General Sign's sister company. He was a member of Missouri Sign Association and Mid South Sign Association. He was also a member of Cape First.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn McGill, of Jackson; three sons, Patrick McGill of Millersville, Terry McGill of Cape Girardeau and James (Shelia) McGill of Paducah, Ky.; two daughters, Donna (David) Williams of Cape Girardeau and Lisa (Tim) Dowdy of Jackson; three sisters, Mona Palermo and Clara Thomas of Cape Girardeau and Lily McGill of Ohio; one aunt, Ann Flemings of Las Cruces, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, two brothers, a sister and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Brothers and the Rev. Ron Watts officiating.

Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
