TAMMS, Ill. -- Former mayor Donald L. "Dobe" Holshouser, 60, of Tamms died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Alexander County, son of Armel and Dorothy Wilson Holshouser. He and Roselee Temke were married March 12, 1960.
Holshouser was in the trucking business and was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was mayor of Tamms 16 years, and was currently president of Tamms Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of Tamms United Methodist Church and Operating Engineers Local 318.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeff Holshouser of Tamms; a sister, Norma Morse of Dorsey; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmy Keller officiating. Burial will be in McCrite Cemetery.
