Donald C. Heuer, 81, of Cape Girardeau passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Cape Girardeau, to John C. and Iska Arsta Heuer. He and Violet Jean Ann Lampe were married Dec. 30, 1950, and were together almost 61 years when she passed away Nov. 18, 2011.
Don was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 29, 1951, to May 24, 1953.
After his honorable discharge from service, he returned to Cape Girardeau where he worked at Horton Sales, Marquette Cement, Sears and Roebuck and 20 years at Procter & Gamble. An avid horseman, Don bred, raised and rode horses 50 years on his farm in Jackson.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Jeanie Heuer of Bloomington, Ind.; two sisters, Virginia Bruhl of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Juanita Roth of San Diego.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park.
