Donald Dean Hester, son of the late John and Eula Schearf Hester, was born Feb. 5, 1946, in Delta and departed his life Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at his home in Delta at the age of 77 years.

He married Janet Waddle on Sept. 21, 1968, and she survives of the home.

Donald was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam era.

Donald served on the Delta School Board for 27 years. He was the owner/operator of Just Plain Fun LLC in Chaffee, Missouri. He was a member of Fairview General Baptist Church in Advance, Missouri, where he was a Sunday school teacher.

He was an Elvis impersonator for 25 years, entertaining at various nursing homes.

Besides his wife, Donald is survived by two sons, Paul Hester of Delta and Neil (Shelah) Hester of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Sarah (fiance James Mensing) Hester of Carlyle, Illinois; brother, John (Dolores) Hester of Highland, Illinois; five grandchildren, Kimberlie (Dustin) Nothdurft and Daniel, Stephen, Cameron and Riley Hester; a much beloved great-grandson, Kole Nothdurft; and special friend and neighbor, Joe Burger, and daughter, Alison Kelley. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald Lee Hester; teenage sister, Pauline Argulee Hester; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert Eugene and Patricia Ann Hester.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at the funeral home, with the Revs. Earl Elfrink and Ronnie McAtee as officiants. Burial, with full military honors, will be at Kenyon Cemetery near Delta.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Delta School District.
