VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Donald E. Gertis, 62, of Villa Ridge died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 25, 1934, in Buffalo, N.Y., son of John and Dorothy Schneider Gertis. He married the former Melanie Konemann.
Gertis was a technician with Illinois Department of Transportation, and attended Karnak United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kim Lynch of North Little Rock, Ark.; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Jon Althoff will officiate.
Friends may call Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
