DEXTER, Mo. -- Donald Duane Garner, 43, of Dexter died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at Three Rivers Health Care North Campus.
He was born Dec. 6, 1957, in Cairo, Mich., son of Robert and Maxine Clary Garner. He and Jody Smothers were married Aug. 11, 1979.
Garner was a life-long resident of Dexter. He worked in the family business, Busy B's Lumber, from 1969 to 1998. He worked in construction work for several years building homes until ill health forced him to retire. He exhibited Tennessee walking horses and had been chairman of the Racking Horse State Championship in Dexter.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Katie and Jenny Garner of Dexter; a son, John Garner of Dexter; his parents; his maternal grandmother, Vevlean Clary; two brothers, Scott Garner and Ron Garner; and two sisters, Debby Allen and Vicki Walker.
Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 3-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dexter Church of Christ. The Rev. Jim Faughn will officiate, with burial in Caroline Dowdy Cemetery.
