Donald Franklin

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Donald R. Franklin, 76, of Perryville died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 29, 1928, at Crystal City, Mo., son of Samuel J. and Eleanor Mary Rhyne Franklin. He and Marcella A. Balsman were married Nov. 5, 1949.

Franklin was employed at General Motors for 31 years. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, River Eagles Lodge 4034 and United Auto Workers.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Franklin of Perryville; two brothers, Wallace Franklin and Harold Franklin, both of Perryville; a sister, Renelda McClarney of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
