CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Donald DeLine, 89, of Charleston, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born Aug. 1, 1912, in Charleston, he was the son of Charles Ludwig and Lilly Elizabeth Millard DeLine. On May 25, 1941, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Anita May Babb. She died June 7, 2000...

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Donald DeLine, 89, of Charleston, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Aug. 1, 1912, in Charleston, he was the son of Charles Ludwig and Lilly Elizabeth Millard DeLine.

On May 25, 1941, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Anita May Babb. She died June 7, 2000.

DeLine served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.

He was a retired farmer and landowner. DeLine and his family were named Mississippi County Farm Family of the Year in 1978.

A member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston since 1927, he was church deacon for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Bill DeLine of Blytheville, Ark., Smith DeLine of Charleston; a brother, J.L. "Spec" DeLine of Charleston; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, four brothers, four sisters and one grandson preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Charleston. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Gerald Collier officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
