Donald Dean Corbin, son of Grover Cleveland and Ruth Corbin, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 12, 2015, at age 79.
Don was the youngest of 13 siblings and is survived by a brother, the Rev. Jimmie (Elwanda) Corbin; a sister, Wyvonne Croy; dear husband of Bonnie Sue Rowe Corbin for 58 amazing years; father of Kimberly (Robert) Bostic, Phillip (Jenifer) Corbin and Lynn (John) Price; grandfather of Jacob, Abigail, Madeleine, Duncan, Sawyer, Grant, Evan and Sophie; uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born April 25, 1936, at Greenbrier, Missouri.
He earned a bachelor of education from Southeast Missouri State University, master's from the University of Missouri and doctorate from Saint Louis University.
Don spent his entire career in education, starting his teaching career in Zalma, Missouri, at the age of 18. The family moved to St. Louis when he was a reading coordinator in the Lindbergh School District and retired as an elementary principal in the Fox School District in 1991.
He also served as an adjunct professor at Webster, Lindenwood, Northern Montana State, SIU and UMSL. He traveled throughout the states and South America leading workshops for teachers. He also was co-owner of Jeffco Travel Service 31 years. His greatest passions in life were his family, teaching, church and travel. He delighted in the accomplishments of his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Don was a member of Concord Trinity United Methodist Church.
The family requests memorials to CTUMC or Epworth Children's Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at John L. Ziegenhein & Sons (South County), 4830 Lemay Ferry Road, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church, 5275 S. Lindbergh Blvd.
