Don Michael Voorhes, 75, of Jackson passed away Friday, April 23, 2021, at his home.
He was born Sept. 25, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, son of Curtis and Elsie Brune Voorhes.
Don was baptized into the faith Feb. 3, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim. He was confirmed into that faith April 10, 1960, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, by Pastor Walter Keisker. He and Donna Hennecke were married Aug. 9, 1969, at St. Paul.
Don graduated from Jackson High School. He served in the Army National Guard and was honorably discharged Jan. 2, 1970. From 1964 to 1980, he was employed by the former Voorhes Greenhouses in Fruitland. He was then chief owner and operator of Don's Upholstery in Jackson, from 1980 to his passing.
Don loved classic cars and enjoyed going to car shows. His pride and joy was his yellow 1936 Ford panel truck. He was a devoted grandfather to his two grandchildren, Brianna and Alexander Komorech.
In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, survivors include a son, Todd Voorhes of Jackson, and a daughter, Cindy Komorech of Ballwin, Missouri, and her children, Brianna and Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wayne Voorhes; a sister, Mary Schlegel; three sisters-in-law, Mary Voorhes, Anne Marie Brucker and Connie Myers; and a brother-in-law, Bob Hennecke.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
