Don Smith

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Don Edward Hall Smith, 77, of Advance passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Advance Nursing Center.

He was born July 12, 1935, in Whitewater, Mo., the son of Fred and Irene Davis Smith. Don and Bernice Gaines were united in marriage in 1956, and she survives of the home.

Smith was a Cape Girardeau firefighter for more than 40 years. He was a member of Palmore Baptist Church near Zalma, Mo.

Other survivors include a son, Donnie Smith of McClure, Ill.; a daughter, Tonya Smith of Perkins, Mo.; a brother, Gary Smith; a sister, June Swan; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with full military rites.
