Doloris Emily Meyr, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away suddenly Friday, April 17, 2020, at SoutheastHEALTH.
She was born June 13, 1930 in Pocahontas to William Joseph and Elsie Bachmann Reisenbichler. She and Harold R. Meyr were married Sept. 23, 1950, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. He passed away March 1, 2007.
She was baptized and confirmed at the church in Pocahontas. She was a 1948 graduate of Jackson High School. After moving to Cape Girardeau in 1966, she and Harold became members of Trinity Lutheran Church until they became charter members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Chapel. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Ladies Guild and the church, serving on many boards and offices. As an active member of the Cape Zone LWML, she served as president and treasurer. She was a volunteer at Cape Senior Center for many years, and was a member of Progressive Homemaker's Club. She attended Stonecroft Ministries and Bible Class, and she and Harold enjoyed many years with the Hilltoppers Square Dance Club.
After moving to Cape Girardeau, she was employed as an administrative assistant at Lutheran Campus Center of Southeast Missouri State University and at Harold Meyr Accounting Services, PC.
Her hobbies were gardening, raising flowers and making many table decorations. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Loving survivors are one daughter, Janet (Paul) Herzog of Palatine, Illinois; three sons, Harold Wm (Dianne) Meyr of Cape Girardeau, the Rev. Ronald (Pamela) Meyr of Rockledge, Florida, and Rodney (Teresa) Meyr of Cape Girardeau; sister, Lorna Roth of Old Appleton; grandchildren, Joshua Herzog, Rachel (Aaron) Tarr, Andrew (Rhonda Cornell) Meyr, Eric (Alexis) Meyr, Elizabeth (Ben) Meyr-Mamoun, Ashley (Quentin) Kelley and Benjamin (Laura) Meyr; great-grandchildren, Liam and Levi Kelley, Jacob and Hannah Tarr, Maxwell and Charles Meyr, Mariam and Hannah Benmamoun and Blake and Lily Meyr.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; Harold's parents, Rudolf and Rosa Meyr; sisters-in-law, Vera Meyr and Leona Woodburn; and brother-in-law, Raymond Roth.
A private family service will be held Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home, and she will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School or Cape Girardeau Senior Center.
