Dolores W. Mirly, 90, of Charlotte, N.C., joined her beloved husband in heaven and is now before the throne of God. She went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.
She was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Concordia, Mo. It was there she met her future husband who was a student at St. Paul College, a preparatory school for his calling to the Lutheran ministry. They were married in Concordia in 1945 after he completed his training in St. Louis.
His first parish was in Jacob, Ill., where their first daughter, Martha, was born. After serving another Illinois parish, they moved to Philadelphia, where their daughter Rebecca was born.
In 1968 they moved to Charlotte where Pastor Mirly served as senior pastor at Resurrection Lutheran Church for more than 16 years. Mrs. Mirly was an active support for her husband in his ministry and was particularly interested in establishing altar guilds in their congregations. She was called with him into their post-retirement apostolic traveling ministry where they became known as leaders in the Lutheran and Liturgical/Charismatic Worship Renewal.
Mrs. Mirly is survived by two daughters, Martha Budding (David) and Rebecca Barnwell (Marcus); grandchildren, Jeffrey Berndt (Kristin), Nathan Berndt (Malka), Jessica Costen (Jade), Elisha Boggs (George), Micah Swett (Maria); and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be private.
