D.K. MCCARTY

BERNIE -- D.K. McCarty, 83, of Bernie died Monday, March 8, 1999, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born Feb. 6, 1916, at Lavalle, son of Charles H. and Myrtle Bell Trammell McCarty. He and Ruth Hazel Hobgood were married Jan. 9, 1943.

McCarty was a shipping clerk at IXL Handle Factory in Bernie, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Bernie General Baptist Church and an honorary deacon. He was a member and past patron of OES Chapter 141, member and past master of Bernie Masonic Lodge 573.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy McCarty of St. Peters; and a grandson.

Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Arvil Edmonds and Dale Hartle officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery.
