Irene "Dixie" Davis, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Burksville, Ky., daughter of John James and Delia Frances Capps Ferrell. She and Lawrence R. "Larry" Davis were married Jan. 14, 1979, in Cape Girardeau...

Irene "Dixie" Davis, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Burksville, Ky., daughter of John James and Delia Frances Capps Ferrell. She and Lawrence R. "Larry" Davis were married Jan. 14, 1979, in Cape Girardeau.

Davis had been a licensed practical nurse for Drs. W.F. Oehler and James Kinder, retiring in 1972.

She was a member of Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church.

Davis was a graduate of Burksville High School, and received a nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sandra Alden of Hutchinson, Kan.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Lucien Bozarth officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
