Dirk W. Engelhart, 57, of Jackson passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 30, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, son of Joseph Charles and Joy Statler Engelhart. He and Pat Kieninger were married Dec. 23, 1977, in Pocahontas.

In addition to his wife of 37 years, Pat, loving survivors include two children, Jeremy and Rachel Engelhart of Jackson; his mother, Joy Engelhart of Jackson; a brother, Paul (Carol) Engelhart of Jackson; a sister, Fran Kuntz of Cape Girardeau; his mother-in-law, Verna Kieninger of Pocahontas; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Bill) Wooten of Jackson and Debbie (Steve) Sandau of Salem, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, his father-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Virgil Kelm officiating. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pocahontas, with military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Saxony Lutheran High School in Jackson or Zion Lutheran Church building fund.
