SIKESTON -- John Richard "Dick" Young, 65, of Naples, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1996, at Naples Community Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1931, at Sikeston, son of Harry Culeon and Hazel M. Penney Young Sr. He and Mary Nell Van Bibber were married June 12, 1954, at Sikeston.
Young was a 1949 graduate of Sikeston High School, 1953 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, and received a master's degree from New York University Graduate School of Business.
He was employed by International Business Machines from 1957 until retiring in 1983. He had been a salesman, corporate vice president of communications, corporate vice president and president of office products and national marketing divisions.
Young served on the boards of directors of St. Regis Corp. and Advertising Council in New York City, First National Bank of Atlanta, Ga., and as a director of Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Conn.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stuart Young of Wayne, Pa., Van Young of New Canaan, Stephen Young of Houston, Texas; a sister, Hazelle Wilson of Sikeston; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-7 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, with the Rev. Fred Leist officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
