Dick R. Johnson, 69, of Jackson died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1940, in Neelys Landing, Mo., to Glen and Mabel Kassel Johnson. He and Zedith Proffer Johnson were married Dec. 20, 2006, at Jackson.

Dick served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Ray Voges Service Station more than 27 years. He also worked for Mike Annis Construction for five years.

Survivors include his wife, Zedith Johnson of Jackson; two daughters-at-heart, Christina Bischoff of Jackson and Wendy Crown of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; three sisters, Glennetta Houck of Cape Girardeau, Sally Lovell of McClure, Ill., and Jo Ann Neameth of San Diego; two half brothers, Sam Johnson of Scott City and Steve Johnson of Cape Girardeau; a half sister, Nancy Burroughs of Arnold, Mo.; a stepsister, Sue Coomer of Scott City; a stepbrother, Ron May of French Village, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren-at-heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ronald, Kenneth and Thomas Johnson.

Visitation was Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.
