JACKSON, Mo. -- Dica E. Bernard, 93, formerly of Burfordville, Mo., died Friday, May 4, 2001, at the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Hampton, Va.
She was born June 24, 1907, at Acorn Ridge, Mo., daughter of Nathional and Sara Davis Summers. She and Lawrence Bernard were married Jan. 11, 1941. He died Nov. 11, 1989.
Bernard lived in Burfordville for many years and was an elementary school teacher there. She was a member of the Burfordville Baptist Church. For the past 12 years she had lived at Peninsula, Va., near her daughter. During that time, Bernard was a member of the Pine Chapel Baptist Church and its telephone Sunday School class.
Survivors include a daughter, Merry Evelyn Lewis of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Della Marquand of Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, John Summers Sr. of Grand Blank, Mich.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
