DONGOLA, Ill. -- Dewitt Lingle, 87, of Dongola died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at Jonesboro Health Care Center in Jonesboro, Ill.
He was born May 22, 1913, in Union County, Ill., son of Meridith and Nancy Karraker Lingle. He and Catherine Hartline were married Dec. 17, 1940. She died Sept. 4, 1989.
Lingle was a retired farmer. He was a member of Dongola Lodge 581 AF&AM.
Survivors include a son, Clarence Lingle of Lady Lake, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Cox and Kay Thompson of Dongola; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. today and Thursday until time of service.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery.
