MARBLE HILL -- Dewel "Wayne" Smith of Marble Hill died Friday, Nov. 21, 1997, at Sedgewickville from injuries in an automobile accident. He was 45.

He was born June 26, 1952, at St. Louis, son of Dewel and Ella May Statler Smith. On Sept. 1, 1984, he married Rita Hinkle.

He was a machinist for American Railroad Industries in Jackson. He was a member of the Little Whitewater Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Kirk Smith of Patton; a daughter, Samantha Smith of Marble Hill; his mother, Ella May Hinkle of Marquand; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Statler of Millersville; and two sisters, Shelia Boyd of Bertrand and Vicki Dickson of Lebano, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Liley Funeral Home in Patton. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Roy Michael officiating. Burial will be in the Cook Cemetery at Scopus.
