Dewayne Younger, 78, of Scott City, formerly of Advance, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 26, 1941, in Bollinger County, Missouri, the son of Elmer and Beulah Fish Younger. Dewayne and Ida Nell Schatte were united in marriage March 28, 1964, at Advance, and she survives of the home.
Dewayne retired after working 31 years as a supervisor for Missouri Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports. His hobbies included gardening, hunting and going to auctions. He will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his daughters, Tammy (Gary) Froman, Connie (Richard) Copeland and Cindy (Paul) Dirden, all of Scott City; brother, Edwin Younger of Advance; sisters, Sheila Crippen of Dexter, Missouri, and Bernice Bolen of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Whitney Froman, Forrest (Ashton) Copeland, Hunter Copeland, Kaileigh Dirden and Alyssa Dirden; and great-grandchild, Brantlee Selsor.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leo Younger; and sister, Donna Younger.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wayne Page officiating. Burial will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
