NEW MADRID -- Funeral service for Derek Ray Curtis of New Madrid was held Saturday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Jerry Dudley officiated, assisted by the Rev. Richard Britt. Burial was in New Morley Cemetery.
Curtis, 29, died Thursday, July 9, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Sept. 20, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, son of Boyd Ray and Russell Ann "Rusty" Hatfield Curtis. He and Patty Branum were married April 25, 1987, at Kewanee.
Curtis was a car salesman at Harper-Lankheit Motor Co., and had formerly worked at Ledbetter Chevrolet and Jarvis Motor Co. He was a member of Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church, Ark-Mo Horseshow Association, and Sikeston Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, Clark Dale "Corky" and Russell Duke of Sikeston; two sisters, Lisa Spalding of Benton, Misty Duke of Sikeston; paternal grandfather, Leo Curtis of Lowndes, and maternal grandfather, Russell Hatfield of Oran.
He was preceded in death by his father.
