Denzel F. "Fat" Slinkard, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 16, 1909, at Burfordville, Mo., son of Dennis and Lou Essie Green Slinkard. He and Madeline L. Steger were married June 21, 1930, in Jackson, Mo. She died Dec. 5, 1981.
Slinkard was a contractor and businessman 25 years, and later was a land developer and financier. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Bricklayers Local 23, and TPA.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Shirley Slinkard of Madison, Ala.; and two grandsons, Greg Slinkard and Brian Slinkard of Huntsville, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Philip Slinkard in 1981.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-7 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Revs. John Ferguson and William Burke officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Holshouser, Charles Herbst, Greg Slinkard, Brian Slinkard, Bob Herbst, Bill Mousadakos, and Don Canfield.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
