Funeral for Denver F. Perkins of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Leo Perkins will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park, with graveside service by VFW Post 3838.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Perkins, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Dec. 26, 1915, at Zalma, son of Richard A. and Clarissa Stull Perkins. He and Barbara Emory were married Jan. 27, 1952, in Arkansas.

Perkins had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1939. He had been a truck driver, bus driver and taxi driver with City of Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1978. He was a member of VFW Post 3838.

He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald Perkins of Jackson, Bob Perkins of Fruitland; a daughter, Margie Newman of Fruitland; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers, and six sisters.
