LAWRENCE, Kansas Dennis Lee Statler, 90, a former resident of Cape Girardeau, died March 15, 1993, in Lawrence.
He was born Nov. 10, 1902, in Cape Girardeau County, the son of David and Emily Catherine Limbaugh Statler. He grew up in Cape Girardeau, and moved to Cord, Ark., in 1942.
He married Martha Mary House on Nov. 10, 1927, in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on July 7, 1989.
He moved to Lawrence in 1945, working in area service stations until retiring in 1968.
He was an avid tomato gardener, and enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, David L. Statler of Laurel, Mont., and Eldon D. Statler of Lawrence; one daughter, Cleta Wells of Lawrence; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ramsey Funeral Home in Lawrence. Family will meet with friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.
