ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Dennis Christian Kassel, 65, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Diane D. Dye Kassel. They were married July 7, 1979, and were set to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary this coming July.

Born in Cape Girardeau, Dennis was the son of Martin "Bud" and Helen Marie Riehl Kassel. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1971. Dennis worked more than 40 years in the wholesale and retail women's shoe industry.

Dennis was an active member of First St. Charles United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, traveling, laughing with friends and family, watching Mizzou football, and catching up on Power Mizzou. Although he loved these hobbies, he loved spending time with his wife and two daughters most. Dennis will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his faith in God, his never-ending fearlessness, his love for his family and his ability to make any time spent with him a memorable experience.

Dennis is survived by his sisters, Sharon (Joel) Huey and Sandy Pace, both of Scott City, and Sheila (Lanny) Rathert of Wentzville, Missouri. He is also survived by wife, Dee Dee Dye Kassel; daughters, Gretchen Kassel and Katie (Adam) Hoffman; and granddaughter, Allie Hoffman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Baue Funeral Home, 3950 W. Clay St., St. Charles.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First St. Charles United Methodist Church, 801 First Capitol Drive, St. Charles.
