Demetrius Flowers, 55 -- affectionately called "Meechie" and "D"-- died unexpectedly Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021.
He was born Oct. 14, 1965, in Sikeston, Missouri, the son of the Rev. Sharl Flowers-Smith and the late Leroy Flowers Sr.
Demetrius was a 1985 graduate of Sikeston High School.
He is survived by his mother; grandmother, Mable Cook of Sikeston; two brothers, Leroy (Lucretia) Flowers of Atlanta, Georgia, and Donald Flowers of St. Paul, Minnesota; three sisters, Sheila (Kenneth) Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas; Rhonda Council (Terry Robinson) of Sikeston; and Sharl (Erica) Flowers of Austin, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Henry Cook, and sister, Estelle Cook.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 300 Westgate St., in Sikeston.
Funeral service will be at noon Friday at Jubilee House of Prayer, 416 Greer St., in Sikeston. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery in New Madrid, Missouri. ​
Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau will be in charge of arrangements.
