DELOYS MCWATERS

SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Deloys M. McWaters of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dolan Rogers will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

McWaters, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at Sikeston Health Care.

She was born June 2, 1916, at Canalou, daughter of John and Alpha Bond Smith, She and Bert McWaters were married Oct. 31, 1941, at Canalou. He died March 31, 1989.

McWaters was an elementary teacher in Southeast Missouri schools 52 years, and received a Missouri Teacher of the Year award. She was a member of Puxico Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, B.J. Smith of Sikeston, Duke Smith of Roberts, Ill.; two sisters, Camille Newingham of Risco, Earlyne Barnes of Sikeston; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.
