CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Deloris Rodgers-Newman, daughter of the late Alcey and Addie Biggs Duke, was born Aug. 9, 1935 in St. Louis and departed this life Monday, March 1, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 85 years.
Deloris was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau and a very godly lady. She was a resident of Chaffee.
She was first united in marriage to Charles L. Rodgers in 1952. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was then united in marriage to Silas Newman in 1986. He died in 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Deloris Lynette Rodger-Fehr of Chaffee and Denice (Glenn) Rodgers-Christy of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Michelle Pierce, Annette Winick, Garrett Christy and Danielle Christy; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death a daughter, Charlette Rodgers; brother, Elco Duke; and three sisters, Dorothy Heady, Helen Stovall and Doris Luecke.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the First Pentecostal Church, 3054 Lexington Ave., in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will then be conducted at noon Friday at the church Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Darrell Faire officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Funeral Home in New Madrid, Missouri.
