SCOTT CITY, Mo. --
Delories O. Simmons, 65, of Scott City, wife and mother of many, whose giving nature will forever linger in the hearts she touched, passed from this world Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Her incorrigible laugh and loving smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was born Sept. 9, 1936, at Fornfelt, Mo., daughter of Hugh Alvida and Helen Margaret Stone Spriggs. She and Lester Simmons were married April 7, 1961, at Scott City.
Simmons retired as an arrhythmia technician at St. Francis Medical Center. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary to Post 6407 in Scott City, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0389 and CB'ers Club in Chaffee, Mo.
Survivors include her husband; six sons, Steve Simmons of Advance, Mo., William Cochran, Tommie Cochran and Bruce Cochran, all of Scott City, Rodney Simmons of Cape Girardeau, Tracy Simmons of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Brenda Cochran of Dallas, Texas, and her mother, Helen Brant of Scott City.
Also surviving is a brother, Norman Brant of Scott City; three sisters, Alvida Nation and Mary Sue Wright of Scott City, Karry Dawn Brant of Cape Girardeau; a half brother, Oscar Spriggs of Louisville, Ky.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris Jean Simmons and Donna Sue Robinson, and a sister, Rosie Hill.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the chapel, with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
