Delois Niswonger, 76, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born June 3, 1935, in Blodgett, Mo., to Eugene W. and Mildred M. Angle Emmons. She and Joe Niswonger were married Dec. 1, 1962, in Perryville, Mo. They lived in St. Louis for 33 years and returned to Cape Girardeau in 1996.
Delois worked in the accounting department of McKesson Drug Co. 33 years. She was a member of American Legion Post 63, TOPS MO259, Missouri Council for the Blind, River City Workers of the Blind, Women's Connection (CWC), also various positions at First Church of God and Cape Community Church.
Survivors include an adopted daughter, Robin (J. Nathan) McCollough of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Colin D. Emmons and Donald L. (Mary Sue) Emmons of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Deborah Fisher of Clarksville, Tenn.; a grandchild, Tatum Marie McCollough of Cape Girardeau; several brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, Kenny, Stanley, Charles, Mark and Rudy Emmons; two sisters, Joyce Godwin and Mary Ellen Emmons.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jeremy Clayton and Ron Knapp officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
