Delmer Lee Lewis, 79, of Cape Girardeau left this fallen world from Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau on Sunday, June 23, 2024, to claim his heavenly reward.
Born on Oct. 11, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to Charles and Anita Sandvoss Lewis, he was a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau.
After graduating from College High, Delmer worked 30 full-time years at Procter & Gamble while farming the family farm. He often reminisced the farm was a pearl the Lord blessed him with and working the land was an honor and one of the joys of his life.
Delmer is reunited in eternity with his first wife, Janice "Jan" Bollinger Lewis who preceded him in death in 1985. Delmer is survived by his two children he shared with Jan, Brian Lewis of Jackson and Anita (Preston) Bellis of Jackson. Jan was the catalyst for Delmer to become an active church member and a believer.
Additionally, Delmer is reunited with Brenda (Clark) Lewis, his wife who preceded him in death in 2022. They met in church where they served in numerous capacities, most recently as members of LaCroix Church. He is survived by their children, Rebecca Allen of Jackson, and Rob (CoCo) Collier of Kennesaw, Georgia.
Delmer is survived by grandchildren, Gabriella Martin, Hannah Durham, Megan (Caleb) Garner, Dominic Bellis, Graham Allen, Xadie Collier and Finn Collier and great-grandchildren, Ellionna, Gloryanna, Aiden, and Kato.
Delmer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jan Lewis; wife, Brenda Lewis; brother, Jerry Lewis; sister-in-law, Beverly Lewis; daughter, Lana Durham; and grandson, Zack Durham. Many of these were tragic deaths; however, Delmer's unbreakable faith was a model and inspiration to all who knew him. Heaven has received a faithful servant.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Ford and Sons Funeral Home on Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made in Delmer’s memory to Southeast Missouri Food Bank, www.semofoodbank.org.
