Delmar William Karger, 87, of Hilton Head Island, S.C., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Broad Creek Care Center.
He was born May 9, 1913, in Cape Girardeau, son of Ernest J. and Clara M. Hellwege Karger. He had been married to Paula Miller Karger, Edith Kennedy Loring and Ruth Lounsberry Rivard, all of whom preceded him in death.
Karger lived in Cape Girardeau until he was married. His parents died here.
Karger was dean emeritus of RPI and authored numerous management oriented books.
He was a fellow member of American Institute of Industrial Engineers, Society of Advancement of Management and MTM Association for Standard and Research.
Karger was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., and past member of Chamber of Commerce of Walton County, Fla.
He moved to Hilton Head Island in July 2000 from Princeton, N.J.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie McCormack, Karen Van Slyke and Joyce Burns; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at a later date at Odd Fellows Cemetery in New Haven, Ind.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to the Delmar Karger Fund, Lally School of Management and Technology, RPI, Troy, N.Y., 12180.
The Island Funeral Home at Hilton Head Island is in charge of arrangements.
