Delmar J. Barnes, 68, of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 1, 1924, at Tishner, Ark., son of Walter and Oralie Meredith Barnes.
He was married to Clara Bazzell on March 7, 1946 at Millstadt, Ill.
Barnes was a greenskeeper at Cape Girardeau Country Club until he retired in 1991. He was a member of the Mississippi Valley Golf Course Association, the Bootheel Golf Course Association and the Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James D. Barnes of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Deborah Kirleis of Millstadt, Ill.; two brothers, John Barnes of St. Louis, Duane A. Barnes of Providence, R.I.; eight sisters, Beatrice Rohn of Chester, Ill., Lillian Roth of Crystal City, Mo., Marie Ruback of Percy, Ill., Doris Boyer of St. Louis, Betty King of Ste. Genevieve, Yvonne Knight of St. Louis, Martha Rikand of Overland, Mo., Estelle Gremmels of Chester, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel with the Rev. David Conley officiating.
Burial will follow in Hobbs Chapel Church Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
