Delbert Lynwood "Del" Garnett, 88, of Oklahoma City, Okla., died peacefully Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
He was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Monroe County, Mo., son of Oral and Mabel Watkins Garnett. He and Mary Frances Vaughn were married Aug. 10, 1940, at her home in Perry, Mo.
Delbert's career was spent working in farm cooperatives 25 years with Missouri and Iowa Farm Bureaus, and 20 years with Farmland Industries of Kansas City. He lived in Cape Girardeau from 1965 to 1995, and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Calvin Vaughn Garnett of Piedmont, Okla.; a daughter, Callie Jane Green of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren, Regina Stell of Edmond, Okla., Bill Ullman of San Diego; and two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Sarah Stell.
He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Dean Garnett.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, Mo., with the Rev. John Grimmett officiating.
Agnew Funeral Home in Paris is in charge of arrangements.
