Delbert Comer Fornkohl, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at his home.
He was born July 10, 1937, in Egypt Mills to Henry C. and Mary D. Comer Fornkohl. He was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. A.H. Schmidt at Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills. He had six brothers and four sisters. Delbert was united in marriage to Sue Brockmire on Sept. 4, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Egypt Mills. They were blessed with a son, Dennis, and a daughter, Angela. Delbert was a member of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills.
Delbert worked at Missouri Dry Dock for 44 years from 1956 to 2000. He was a foreman at the time of his retirement. After retirement, he loved to fish and deer hunt. He enjoyed working in his garden. He dearly loved his daughter, Angela, and spending time with his two granddaughters.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sue Fornkohl of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Dr. Angela (Gerard) Blum, and two granddaughters, Allie and Claire Blum, all of Greenfield, Indiana; and a brother, Norman (Betty) Fornkohl of Cape Girardeau.
His mother, Mary, passed away March 5, 1939. His father, Henry, passed away Dec. 29, 1968. He was also preceded in death by his son, Dennis, Aug. 26, 1973; his brothers, Oscar, Glenn, Lawrence, Bobbie Gene and Lester; and his sisters, Opal, Doris, Mabel and Eva.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills, with the Rev. Mark Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
