Debra D. Hitt, 42, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Dec. 17, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Herschel and June Davie Hunt.
Hitt was a 1976 graduate of Sikeston High School, and received a master's degree from Southeast Missouri State University.
She was teaching at Brandt Music Academy at Southeast and was organist at Evangelical United Church of Christ. She previously taught at Zalma and Bell City schools.
Hitt was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, Music Federation, and Sigma Alpha Iota women's music fraternity.
Survivors include a son, Jonathan K. Hitt of Cape Girardeau; her parents of Scott City; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Mike Powers of Valdosta, Ga.; and two nieces, Carrie and Lacey Powers of Valdosta.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lynwood Baptist Church. The Revs. James Caughlan and Gary Belcher will officiate. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
