Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, Debra Lou Compas, 58, of Cape Girardeau went home to sing with our Savior and Lord at Saint Francis Medical Center. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, Debra Lou Compas, 58, of Cape Girardeau went home to sing with our Savior and Lord at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 25, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to Leon Edward and Wilma R. McCallister Compas.

Debra was a graduate of the former University High School in Cape Girardeau. She received a bachelor of science degree in music education from William Jewell College, and a master's degree in Christian education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

She worked at Sears and Burger King in Cape Girardeau and the Missouri Division of Family Services. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church and sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Compas.

Survivors include her mother, Wilma Compas of Benton, Mo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Norman Baker of Benton; two aunts, Gerry Burkett of Pacific, Mo., Laura Holt of Benton; a niece and great-niece, Amy and Kali Whitworth of Panama City, Fla.; a nephew, Norman Baker Jr. of Cape Girardeau; and a huge host of friends and loved ones.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Church Cemetery at Benton.

Pallbearers will be Norman Baker Jr., Kevin Holt, Chris Evans, Steve Chappell, Keith McCallister and Kyle Morrow. Justin Evans will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the American Cancer Society, 106 Farrar Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
