JACKSON, Mo. -- Friedrich "Dean" Goodson, 64, of Jackson died Friday, March 29, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 8, 1937, at Jackson, the son of Willard and Margaret Friedrich Goodson. He and Linda Hartle were married Nov. 8, 1963.
Goodson was a lifelong member of St. John's United Church of Christ and a past member of the church council. He served the U.S. Army in Korea from January 1957 to January 1963. He was a route salesman for Coca-Cola in Jackson and drove a truck for Neelys Landing Quarry, K and R Trucking in Pocahontas, Mo., and Welker Trucking in Lutesville, Mo. He opened his own trucking company in 1985 and worked there until 1987, when he became disabled. He also had worked on the family farm near Oak Ridge, Mo. He was a member of the VFW in Cape Girardeau, a former Boy Scout and 4-H leader and had coached football, baseball and basketball.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeffrey "Jeff" Goodson of Maryville, Ill., and Todd Goodson of Cape Girardeau; a brother, David Goodson of Jackson; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Schaffner officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns's United Church of Christ Cemetery in Fruitland, Mo., with a military honors graveside service.
