Dayton R. Green, 76, of Jackson passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 21, 1938, in Jackson, son of Robert G. and Maggie Grindstaff Green. He and Katie Runnels were married Jan. 25, 1964, in Marble Hill, Missouri.
Dayton began his working career when he was 15 years old at the former Starlite Garage west of Jackson. He then worked at Procter & Gamble from 1976 until retiring in 1995.
He was a member of First General Baptist Church of Jackson. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching old movies and listening to country music. He was an awesome grandpa, and his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.
Loving survivors include his wife of 50 years, Katie; a son, Kenny (Deborah) Green of Jackson; two daughters, Kristal (Rev. Jeff) Woodard of Patton, Missouri, and Theresa Fuller of Jackson; three grandchildren, Jeffery Woodard and Kendra and Kailey Green; a brother, J.D. (Marcella) Green of Jackson; and a sister, Annie Pruitt of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Woodard officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or Heartland Care and Rehab.
