JACKSON: Mr. David Wayne Cook, age 37, died Monday, October 18, 1999 as the result of a construction accident in Jackson, Missouri.
David was born July 10, 1962 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the son of Emmett and Betty Wright Cook. His father preceded him in death February 24, 1980. David graduated from Jackson High School in 1980 and immediately started his working career.
He has worked for the David McDowell Construction Co., Todt Sheet Metal, Johannes Auto Sales, Perry County School District, Dutch Enterprises, Public Water Supply #1 of Fruitland and Public Water Supply #4 of Gordonville as the Water Plant Operator. In 1996 he started his own business known as David W. Cook Plumbing.
He attended Abundant Life Church at Gordonville and was involved in Sheperd's Cove Children's Home and the church bus ministry. He was a member of the St. Mark's Masonic Lodge No. 93 of Cape Girardeau, Scottish Rite and Moolah Temple of St. Louis and the Elks Lodge of Perryville. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting all natural game.
His is survived by his wife, Linda Muench Cook, whom he married June 29, 1985, and a daughter, Nicole Cook, of the family home. Linda is employed as an elementary school teacher in the Perryville School District. Other survivors are his mother and step-father, Betty and Jerry Johnson of Jackson, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Steven and Teresa Cook of Cape Girardeau and Jack Cook of Cape. One sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rodney Enderle of Jackson, two step-sisters and two brothers-in-law, Donna and Chris Vines of Cape and Denna and Ray Champ of St. Ann, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. David Butler will officiate with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery. Masonic Services will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Expressions of Memorial Sympathy may be given to the Cancer Fund.
