David Blake Schaffner, 59, of Millersville died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1960, in Lebanon, Missouri, to David Ernst and Barbara Ann Blattner Schaffner.
David was a 1978 Cape Girardeau Central High School graduate. He received a degree in industrial technology from Southeast Missouri State University.
He served in the National Guard from 1980 until 2000.
He worked as a bricklayer.
He loved wood carving and fishing.
Survivors include his parents, David and Barbara Schaffner of Cape Girardeau; brother, Steve (Linda) Schaffner of Cape Girardeau; sister, Helen (Rick) Cason of St. Joseph, Missouri; nieces, Stephanie and Charlotte; nephew, Eddie; and great-niece, Emma.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will follow at noon Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Estes officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Maple Methodist Church Building Fund or other mission needs.
